ICW Long Before Wesley Snipes 25/07/15

ICW's Waynestock weekend kicked off with Long Before Wesley Snipes last Saturday in an event that saw ICW return to the location of their first ever show, Maryhill Community Centre, Glasgow. A sold out crowd at Maryhill, the setting of Drew Galloway's first ICW Heavyweight Championship success, witnessed a drunken stag party crash the show, a student step from underneath the shadow of his teacher and the return of a former ECW Heavyweight Champion to ICW.

Lionheart vs Chris Renfrew

The first match of the night pits two competitors together with a lot of history; two veterans on the UK independent scene, Lionheart and Chris Refrew have battled up and down the country for almost ten years. Lionheart, not long removed from career threatening neck surgery, makes his way to the ring with recent history against him; the last time these two met at Alex Kidd in London, Chris Renfrew picked up the victory in a hard fought battle.

The architect of the N.A.K., Chris Renfrew, accompanied by fellow N.A.K member, Stevie Boy, is next to the ring with a lot of support from the crowd. As the bell rings to get the match under way, Renfrew immediately flees to the outside before Lionheart hits a cross body over the top rope successfully grounding Renfrew. Lionheart, to the fans delight, finds a PS1 from somewhere and starts going to town on Renfrew, taking out the old WWF game from inside before smashing it over Renfrew's skull. A cheap shot by Stevie Boy allows Renfrew to land a few blows, working over the surgically repaired neck of Lionheart.

Back in the centre of the ring now, Renfrew delivers a huge Goldeneye spinebuster for a a close fall. Lionheart manages to deliver a superkick to mount some offence before Renfrew hits a stunner but Lionheart bounces through and delivers a second superkick as both men fall to the mat. Stevie Boy makes no secret of his intentions as he climbs into the ring to deliver a superkick to Lionheart, sending him straight into the path of Renfrew who delivers a second stunner- kick out at 2! Lionheart, using the ropes to aid his balance, somehow manages to return to his feet before delivering a Rock Bottom for a two count! Stevie Boy, never one to let his presence ringside go unnoticed, enters the ring for the second time in the match attempting a superkick that accidentally hits Refrew, small package by Lionheart-2 again!

As both men get to their feet, Renfrew delivers another stunner to  secure the victory and the first N.A.K victory of the night whilst continuing to exert his dominance over Lionheart. The N.A.K. prove once again the strength of numbers as they begin the post-match dismembering of Lionheart but the Bucky Boys music hits-it's Wee Man, with buckfast in hand! Wee Man circles the ring as Davey Boy appears through the curtain! Davey Boy, a man that has not been seen since Stevie Boy turned his back on the Bucky Boys by joining the N.A.K., bursts into the ring delivering a big spinebuster to Renfrew as the former ICW Tag Team Champions square off in the ring! Stevie Boy delivers a low blow before Renfrew hits a stunner, the numbers have caught up with Davey Boy as he finds himself on the receiving end of a Glasgow Destroyer by his former tag team partner and best friend.

Chris Renfrew and Stevie Boy leave drinking Wee Man's buckfast.

Kenny Williams vs Jack Jester

ICW's King of Hardcore returns to Maryhill for the first time since leaving on a stretcher after a match with Mikey Whiplash a few years ago. Tonight, at Maryhill, Jack Jester will face former Zero G champion, Kenny Williams, in an interesting match that pits two contrasting styles together.

Since his return,  Jack Jester has wreaked a path of destruction defeating the likes of Joe Hendry, Grado and BT Gunn. Jester arrives, corkscrew in hand, to a thunderous ovation. As the bell rings, Jester and Williams lock up for the first time as Jester looks to control the pace of the match early on, working a slow, methodical style to negate Kenny Williams' acrobatics. Williams lands a couple of kicks but it isn't enough to take Jester down. Williams hits a third kick to send Jester to the outside of the ring before attempting a suicide dive, Jester catches Williams and sends him face first into the steel ring-post. Jester takes this opportunity to take a drinks break before delivering a leg drop on the apron as he continues his  methodical dismantling of Kenny Williams.

Now back in the ring, Jester lands a delayed vertical suplex for a close fall. Williams makes a brief comeback, successfully landing a couple of clotheslines before a huge lariat by Jester sends Williams to the mat followed by a spearhead ddt. Jester looks to end proceedings, setting up a Tombstone Piledriver-reversed by Williams, who hits a superkick knocking Jester to the mat for a close fall.

Williams heads up to the top rope looking to hit some of his aerial offence but the former ICW champion gets back to his feet. Jester follows Williams up top to deliver a superplex nearly snapping Williams in half-kick out at 2. Jester wills Williams to his feet before delivering a huge lariat followed by a Tombstone Piledriver for the three count. A valiant effort from Kenny Williams could not deny a focused Jester here. Jester looked as dangerous as ever, primed to return to the top of ICW. Nice display of sportsmanship from Jester and Williams as they shake hands before heading up the ramp.

Noam Dar vs Bram

In one of the most eagerly anticipated encounters of the night, TNA Superstar and member of the 55, Bram, goes head to head with the Jew-di master, Noam Dar. Dar is the first to the ring, receiving a fantastic ovation before the boos greet Bram and the 55, who are making their debut at Maryhill. "Fuck TNA" chants begin as soon as Bram arrives to which Bram responds "fuck you"! Before Bram has a chance to enter the ring, Dar hits a suicide dive taking out James R Kennedy and Kid Fite followed up by one for Bram too! Noam Dar is taking on the 55 all by himself- Dar gets a bottle of water and spits in right in Bram's face before celebrating with the crowd.

Finally, the match is underway as both competitors face off in the ring for the first time tonight. Dar hits two beautifully executed dropkicks sending Bram hurtling towards the corner before delivering a northern lights suplex to the TNA superstar. Noam Dar, firmly in control in the early stages, sends Bram to suplex city with a German followed by a fisherman suplex. Pin attempt by Dar- the referee reaches two before being dragged out of the ring by James R Kennedy. The referee demands the 55 leave ringside but they refuse, causing enough of a distraction for Bram to take advantage with a steel chair handed to him by Kennedy.

Dar rolls to the outside followed by Bram, who snatches a can of beer from a member of the crowd before showering Noam Dar with a combination of warm beer and saliva. Dar pulls Bram's beard, oiled by the spinal fluid of children according to Billy Kirkwood, to regain some control, landing kick after kick to the left knee of Bram. Both men return to the ring  but more kicks to the knee allow Dar to maintain control before locking in the Champagne Super-knee bar- Bram desperately reaches for the ropes before Dar pulls him back to the centre to lock it in again. Bram eventually escapes by kicking Dar in the face, stomping Dar out in the centre of the ring. Dar looks out of it as Bram picks him up-momentarily showing signs of life- before delivering a spike ddt for the three count to the sound of "fuck TNA", The 55 aren't content yet as Kid Fite and James R Kennedy enter the ring to inflict more punishment on Dar.

The sound of Madonna's Like A Prayer transforms the boos from the crowd into cheers as Grado, scheduled to face Bram tomorrow, races out to make the save with a double clothesline taking out both Kid Fite and James R Kennedy before unloading on Bram. Fite blind sides Grado with a cheap shot as the numbers game catches up with Grado. The 55 continue the beat down before Red Lightning arrives verbally running down Grado whilst the 55 physically run down Grado. Lightning decides enough is enough as he reveals Grado now has a match post the 55 beat down.

Grado vs Darkside James Scott

After receiving a beat down delivered by the 55, Grado must now face a former ally of  the ICW General Manager in Darkside James Scott, arriving wearing a steel chain as a necklace. Darkside returns to ICW after defeating Lionheart last time out as he takes advantage of Grado's incapacitated state. Darkside delivers some stiff chops in the corner, sending Grado to the outside.

Darkside, barbarically, snatches Grado's fanny pack from around his waist before using it as a weapon. Darkside swings wildly with a chop that misses Grado and connects with the steel ring post. Grado, seizing his opportunity, goes up to the top of the barricade, soaring through the air before hitting a cross body that grounds Darkside- Grado rolls Darkside back into the ring, attempted pinfall kicked out of at 2. Grado heads to the top rope-perhaps looking for that best moonsault ever- but he hasn't noticed Darkside has got to his feet. Darkside slaps the ropes as Grado takes a tumble, Darkside delivers a devastating reverse neck breaker sending Grado to the outside once again. Darkside follows Grado to the outside, stealing a plastic pint glass of a fan and smashing it on Grado's skull. Darkside, now back in the ring, sadistically wraps his steel chain around the turnbuckle- Grado avoids being sent head first in to the chain, delivering a drop toe hold that sends Darkside's face on a collision course with the steel encrusted turnbuckle. Grado hits the Ayreshire Dream elbow followed by a roll n slice...1...2.. Darkside kicks out!

Grado pulls the straps down, he means business- the two trade blows in the centre before Darkside is able to ground Grado before going up top. Darkside misses with the double foot stomp, turns around and walks straight into the wee boot out of nowehere for the three count. Grado's impressive run continues as he picks up another unlikely win here before he goes into one of the biggest matches of his career against TNA star Bram.

Polo Promotions Stag Do

DCT's stag do arrives-without the stag himself- much to the delight of the fans. For days now possibly weeks, Polo Promotions and apparently Toal have been on a marathon bender in celebration of DCT and Viper's love for one another. Polo Promotions emerge from the crowd, handing out beers to the welcoming arms of the fans before Mark Coffey explains that they mistakenly thought they were scheduled to defend the ICW Tag Team titles tonight. Jackie Polo wants to talk now and, through the drunken gibberish, reveals The International Sex Hero will be closing his sex line down. No more 69 69 0 0 0 for women worldwide. Coffey asks the fans if they want to see a match tonight to which they reply with an emphatic yes because, quite frankly, who doesn't want to see these men attempt to wrestle in their current intoxicated state. Coffey wants Jackie Polo to go up against Coach Trip! Coffey calls for a referee as the bell rings and we are under way. Polo takes down the coach and locks in a sharpshooter!-Mark Coffey is calling for the bell and it is over! Coach Trip did not tap. Mark Coffey perpetrated the Maryhill Screwjob! Coach screwed Coach! As paramedics and security make their way to the ring, Jackie Polo sends them to scoop slam city as the stag party leaves the ring- heading into the Glasgow night to celebrate the last night of DCT's freedom before he marries Viper at Shug's Hoose Party II.

Wolfgang vs Dickie Divers

The N.A.K's mission to destroy anyone that dares to cross their path forced them to weed out one of their own last January. At the 4th annual Square Go match, Dickie Divers, former member of the N.A.K., won the Square Go contract that entitles the winner to a match against the ICW World Heavyweight Champion for the title any time within the next 12 months. Unfortunately for Divers, the final man he eliminated from the 2015 Square Go match was Chris Renfrew, a fellow member of the N.A.K. Since then, the N.A.K have done all they can do to sabotage Dickie Divers making sure that every corner Divers turns, the N.A.K would be there waiting to meet him.

In just 24 hours time, Divers will defend his Square Go contract against the man he eliminated to win the contract, Chris Renfrew.

But tonight, Divers is scheduled to face the N.A.K's big game hunter, Wolfgang. who makes his way to the ring accompanied by fellow N.A.K. members Chris Renfrew and Stevie Boy. As Stevie Boy and Renfrew stand at the top of the ramp, Divers emerges from the curtain, kendo stick in hand. Divers viciously strikes Stevie Boy and Renfrew before heading down to the ring, beating Wolfgang to the mat with the kendo stick. Dickie Divers attempts to do what no one has done before, that is take down the N.A.K single handedly, come up short as Stevie Boy snatches the kendo stick from his possession before Wolfgang uses the brass knuckles to knock out Divers. Wolfgang and Stevie Boy pull Divers to his feet before Renfrew decides against delivering the coup de grace, opting instead to wait until tomorrow.

Lewis Girvan vs Joe Coffey

The best young wrestler in the universe, Lewis Girvan, makes his way to the ring with a fantastic opportunity to rise through the ranks of ICW. Tonight, the biggest potential superstar in wrestling today, goes up against ICW's Ironman, Joe Coffey, who makes his way to the ring with slightly toned down body paint for tonight's match.

After being defeated by Galloway at Barramania, many questioned how Joe Coffey would cope with such crushing disappointment. ICW's Ironman, though, has bounced back with three impressive victories on the bounce. Before the match begins, Lewis Girvan takes the opportunity to ask ring announcer, Simon Cassidy, to remind everyone he is the best young wrestler in the universe. The match gets under way with a fantastic exchange between two wrestlers with a big future. Surprisingly, Girvan, in control early on, grounds the heavier man and works over Coffey's arm before the pair exchange reversal after reversal.  Coffey hits a butterfly suplex that sends Girvan scurrying to the outside to gain control for the first time in the match- Coffey follows Girvan to the outside, smashing his head on the steel steps before rolling Girvan back in the ring.

Nice strike exchange in the centre before Coffey attempts a bulldog-reversed by Girvan, who tries to hit a spinning forearm smash but that is reversed again by Coffey, who delivers a huge powerslam. Girvan attempts a roll up-only 2-before applying a sleeper hold, reversed again by Coffey into a backslide for a close fall again. Joe Coffey signals to the fans that it is swing time sending Girvan around and around in circles before delivering a slingshot into the turnbuckle. Coffey heads to the corner-perhaps looking for that bulldog- but Girvan reverses with a beautiful hurricanrana before hitting a double foot stomp to the back from the top rope for a close 2 count. Joe Coffey, proving once again why he is ICW's Ironman, gets back to his feet much to the dismay of the best wrestler in the universe, Lewis Girvan. Coffey attempts a discuss lariat-dodged by Girvan, but Coffey hits the second attempt, laying out Lewis Girvan for the three count.

After the match, Joe Coffey calls out the ICW General Manager, Red Lightning, stating that the two have unfinished business. Red Lightning makes his way out to the ring, claiming that he accepts Coffey's challenge. Red Lighting calls for a referee to come out as senior official, Thomas Kearns, obliges. Red Lightning asks for someone to ring the bell before telling the fans he doesn't really want to fight as he scuttles of backstage like the rat he is.

Kid Fite vs Aaron Echo

Over the past few months, young Aaron Echo has drifted away from one time teacher now bitter rival, Kid Fite. Aaron Echo makes his ICW debut at the place where it all started. A brawl between student and teacher ensues before the bell can ring, Echo is sent hurtling towards the barrier by Kid Fite before rolling the youngster into the ring for the match to begin. Kid Fite uses his experience to deliver a low blow to Echo before stomping him down in the centre of the ring.

Kid Fite, accompanied by James R Kennedy as ever, works over the legs of Echo before delivering a brutal penalty kick. A failed distraction attempt by James R Kennedy allows Echo to hit a pump handle slam after a spinning forearm. A successful distraction this time by James R Kennedy allows Fite to capitalise, hitting the Hesitation Dropkick followed by the DOA....1...2... Aaron Echo, much to the surprise of the fans and Kid Fite, kicks out!

Student and teacher trade blows in the centre of the ring before Echo hits a huge lariat, followed by a twisting fisherman buster for a near fall! Echo looks to rebound of the ropes but James R Kennedy crashes a steel chair into his back. Kid Fite takes advantage and hits a spike ddt to pick up the victory over his former student. Fite and Kennedy decide against a further beat down, leaving the ring without inflicting any further punishment.

What a fantastic début by Echo, almost defeating his one time teacher, Kid Fite. Echo, no doubt, will be returning some time in the near future to an ICW ring and if he continues to perform as he did in this match, a bright future awaits him.

BT Gunn & Mikey Whiplash Contract Signing

Red Lightning makes his way to the ring to over look a contract signing between Mikey Whiplash and BT Gunn. This is not the usual big match wrestling contract, however. Instead, the contract absolves ICW of any responsibility for what occurs when Whiplash meets Gunn such is the hatred between the two men. After months of mind games and psychological warfare, Mikey Whiplash finally gets the opportunity to exact his revenge on BT Gunn.

Red Lightning calls for a security team to help ensure Whiplash and Gunn remain separated. The Security team look like they were plucked straight from their mother's basement as BT Gunn is first to make his way to the ring, accompanied by fellow N.A.K member Chris Renfrew. The security team block Gunn and Renfrew in the corner of the ring whilst Mikey Whiplash makes his way to the ring. After both men sign the contract, Red Lightning takes his leave, claiming he has what he wants now no one can sue. Whiplash takes the mic, stating tomorrow at Shug's Hoose Party II it is not going to be a wrestling match but a fight. Whiplash tries to leave before Renfrew persuades him to stay for Gunn's rebuttal. Renfrew orders fellow N.A.K members Stevie Boy and Wolfgang to come out and they do so with Jam O Malley, former ally of Whiplash in Pretty Little Things. Stevie Boy, scissors in hand, cuts off O Malley's dreadlocks whilst Wolfgang chokes him out. Whiplash states he doesn't care about his own body never mind O Malley's before striking Renfrew and Gunn but it is not long before Wolfgang and Stevie Boy come to deliver the four man beat down.

But Rhyno is here! A day early, Rhyno emerges from the crowd chasing away the N.A.K members before his showdown with Wolfgang tomorrow. Rhyno demands the mic and lays out a challenge to the ICW World Heavyweight Champion, Drew Galloway.

Galloway, never one to refuse a challenge, makes his way out from behind the curtain, ready to fight.

Rhyno vs Drew Galloway

Before senior official, Tomas Kearns, has the chance to ring the bell, Rhyno and current ICW World Heavyweight Champion, Drew Galloway, brawl around the ring with Rhyno repeatedly sending Drew flying into the barricade. Tonight marks Drew Galloway's first appearance at Maryhill Community Centre since 2007, as finally the two enter the ring and the match is officially under way. Before the action can get under way in the ring, the challenger to Drew Galloway's ICW World Heavyweight Title, Big Damo, makes his way out to the commentary booth proving enough of a distraction for Rhyno to land some offence. Rhyno looks to hit the GORE early on but  Drew has it covered, rolling to the outside. Rhyno follows the champion to the outside but the champ uses a crutch from an injured fan to strike Rhyno.

Drew and Rhyno brawl through Maryhill community centre, trading blow after blow in the crowd before Rhyno gains the advantage with a poke to the eye. The fans encourage Drew and Rhyno to head outside and the two duly oblige, heading though the corridors of the community centre using anything they can get their hands on as a weapon. Rhyno and Drew head into the streets of Glasgow illuminated by a nearby Tesco Express. Drew gains some momentum, landing some stiff chops to the chest of the last ever "real" ECW World Heavyweight Champion, Rhyno, even asking a fan to hold back Rhyno's arm so he can get a clearer shot at his chest. Before heading back inside, Rhyno is sent into a railing as the two brawl in the entrance of Maryhill Community Hall as Rhyno somehow manages to hit a vertical suplex to the hard floor!

As Rhyno and Drew return to the hall, Galloway applies a chin lock in the centre of the ring to chants of "you're just a shite Lewis Girvan" before a double lariat takes out both men. As they return to their feet, the two trade blows in the centre of the ring before Rhyno hits a belly to belly suplex for a two count. Rhyno follows it up by somehow manages to lift the considerable weight of the champ to deliver a TKO-for a two count. The fans demand a GORE as Rhyno lines it up in the corner but Galloway gets out of the way, delivering a pouncing neck-breaker-kick out at 2 by Rhyno. Galloway heads up to the top rope-misses with a leg drop as Rhyno goes for the GORE but misses and is sent into the ring post. Galloway goes for the Future Shock ddt- Rhyno has it scouted, sending Drew rebounding in to the ropes before delivering a huge GORE!... 1...2... kickout at 2!

The fans demand another GORE as Rhyno heads to the corner looking to put the champ away- Galloway has it scouted this time, dodging the GORE before delivering a Future Shock ddt for the three count. Drew Galloway retains the ICW World Heavyweight Championship and will defend the championship tomorrow night at Shug's Hoose Party II's main event against Big Damo, who has made his way to the ring with the title. Damo lays the champion out with the title. Rhyno and Damo square off, Rhyno pushes Damo before delivering another GORE to the champion who only just returned to his feet. Rhyno holds the most coveted prize in not only ICW but in European wrestling much to the delight of the fans in attendance. Rhyno returns the title to an incapacitated champion before taking his leave. Damo picks up the belt along with a mic, questioning Drew's attempts to be a hero in front of a crowd that don't even like him before slamming the mic and title on Drew, kicking the champion out of the ring with disdain. Big Damo stands tall in the ring, perhaps an indication of things to come.

As ever with ICW, Long Before Wesley Snipes had a bit of something for everyone combining a wicked sense of humour, unmitigated violence and great pro wrestling to make for another fantastic show as the company continues to grow from strength to strength with each show.
