Southside Wrestling: Menace II Society 8th August, 2015 Report and Results

Menace II Society V

The dust had barely had chance to settle on Day of Reckoning VI before Menace II Society began. Undeniably, Menace II Society not only produced some of the best wrestling in the UK but some of the best wrestling in the world.

BT Gunn vs Damian Dunne

The opening match of Menace II Society V saw BT Gunn, face one of Britain's up and coming wrestlers, Damian Dunne. The match begins at a high pace with both men seemingly having scouted their opponent as reversal follows reversal. Gunn, working a faster pace than his ICW work, gains the initial advantage before  Damian Dunne transitions from a side headlock take down to an arm lock whilst running down both BT Gunn and the crowd. Gunn escapes the hold, applying one of his own before irish whiping Dunne into the turnbuckle. Gunn, not granting Dunne room to breath, corners the arrogant youngster delivering several stiff shots that could be heard all the way up in Gunn's home town of Glasgow causing Dunne's chest to light up.

Dunne, struggling for breath, stumbles into the centre of the ring before Gunn plants him with a huge spike ddt-only 2. As Gunn pulls Dunne to his feet, Dunne rolls through and almost delivers a shock by rolling up the vastly more experienced Gunn with a close two count. Gunn, incensed by the temerity of  Dunne's attempts to pin him, plants him with a modified facebuster to pick up the victory in a fun back and forth match to get things started.

Damian Dunne's cronies from the Second City Collective arrive to deliver a post match beat down to Gunn before fleeing just as quickly. The beat down is not enough to keep Gunn down, who somehow manages to get to his feet to call the Second City Collective back to the ring. Gunn informs the Second City Collective that when he returns to Southside in October, he will be bringing back up in the form of the N.A.K.

Winner: BT Gunn

Jade vs Kay Lee Ray vs Toni Storm vs Nixon Newell

Kay Lee Ray's Southside Women's Championship not on the line.

Former TNA Knockout Champion, Taryn Terell, was originally scheduled to appear in this match but fellow Doll House member, Jade took her place and did a fantastic job. As the bell rings, Kay Lee Ray decides she does not want to be part of the action. Instead, she takes a seat in the crowd as the ref begins the count out- Kay Lee Ray corrects the official, telling him there is no count outs in fatal four way matches.

The three women left in the ring begin the match, Storm immediately goes for a roll up on Nixon, who immediately follows up with a roll up attempt of her own on Jade. The champion seizes this opportunity to get involved in the match, rolling into the ring to to attempt an unsuccessful roll up of her own on Toni Storm. Jade, Storm and Nixon stare at the champion before delivering a three on one assault the champion is usually on the giving end of. After Kay Lee Ray is sent back to the outside, Storm manages to lock in the submission hold on Nixon- Jade locks in a submission hold of her own on Strom before Kay Lee returns to the ring as all four women apply submissions holds to one another!

Toni Strom eventually breaks up the hold as Kay Lee Ray flees to the outside once again. The three women left in the ring brawl as Nixon Newell hits a flurry of offence to take down both Jade and Storm before heading up to the top rope. The Champion, back in the ring, sends Nixon crashing to the mat from the top rope before delivering a german suplex to Toni Storm. Jade delivers a german of her own to the champion before she herself is suplexed by by Nixon as all four women lay sprawled across the ring.

The champion is first to her feet before going to the top rope but is followed by Storm, who locks her arms around the waist of the champion looking to deliver a german suplex from the top. Storm is followed by Newell, locking her arms around the waist of Storm. Jade wraps her arms around the waist of Nixon Newell to deliver a devastating german suplex to all three women! Jade rises to her feet first, picks up Toni Storm to deliver a package piledriver in the centre of the ring for the three count.

Winner: Jade

Money In The Bank Match

Mark Haskins vs Pete Dunne vs Ryan Smiles vs Flash Morgan Webster vs Robbie X vs Tyler Bate vs The Pledge

The fourth annual Southside Money in the Bank match, contested under tornado tag rules, threw together a collection of some of the most exciting young wrestlers in the UK today. Ryan Smiles is first to the ring and he brings with him a confident attitude promising the fans in attendance that he will win the Money in the Bank Briefcase and go on to be the next Southside Heavyweight Champion. As the other men make their way to the ring, the match begins in chaos with several brawls heading around the ring at once. As the chaos dies down, Haskins and Pete Dunne start things off in the ring with a nice exchange before The Pledge delivers a spine buster to Haskins followed by a scoop slam for Pete Dunne.

The Pledge applies a head scissor hold on Pete Dunne before his Second City Collective ally, Ryan Smiles, comes to his aid by applying a head scissor hold on The Pledge. Robbie X follows suit by applying a head scissor hold on Smiles before Flash Morgan Webster applies a head scissor hold on Robbie X. Tyler Bate, encouraged by the crowd, applies a head scissor hold on the Flash Morgan Webster. A human centipede of head scissor holds is broken when Haskins locks the legs of Pete Dunne before turning every single man over to apply a six person sharpshooter!

Haskins, eventually, breaks the hold and gains some control in the match before Ryan Smiles and Pete Dunne of the Second City Collective toss Haskins to the outside to begin a two on one beat down. Flash Morgan Webster flies to the outside, taking down all three men. Before Smiles, Dunne, Haskins and Webster have had chance to regain their balance, Robbie X delivers a stunning moonsault taking all men down. Once more encouraged by the crowd, Tyler Bate flies over the top rope to take out everyone as applause echoes around the hall. Bate, first to his feet, tosses Pete Dunne back in the ring and follows him in, Bate lifts Dunne looking for the swing before catching Ryan Smiles on his back to deliver the swing to both men. What a display of strength by the young man.

The Pledge enters and delivers a flurry of forearms strikes to Tyler Bate before Haskins returns to send The Pledge to the outside. Robbie X plants former Southside Heavyweight Champion, Mark Haskins, with a huge ddt sending him to the outside before Ryan Smiles makes good on his promise by rolling up Robbie X from behind with a handful of tights to pick up the victory and be crowned Southside's 2015 Money in the Bank Winner.

After the match, Smiles ensured everyone in the building understood that he keeps his promises and will be the next Southside Heavyweight Champion.

Winner: Ryan Smiles

El Ligero vs Jimmy Havoc

For the Southside Speed King Title- El Ligero's C4L DDT Banned

Jimmy Havoc and Kay Lee Ray's victory over El Ligero and Nixon Newell earlier in the day insured that El Ligero's most dangerous weapon, the C4L ddt, was banned for this match- if he uses the C4L ddt not only will he lose the match but also his title.

Jimmy Havoc arrives accompanied by the muscle of The Righteous Army, The Pledge. Whilst the referee hands the ring announcer the Southside Speed King Championship, Havoc takes advantage of the referee's turned back by delivering a low blow to El Ligero before asking the referee to count- only two. Ligero rolls out the ring closely pursued by Havoc, who attempts the Acid Rainmaker but only connects with the steel ring post as a loud thud reverberates around the hall. Ligero, after rolling Havoc back in the ring, begins work on Havoc's arm looking to negate Havoc's Acid Rainmaker. For the second time in the match, El Ligero looks to be lining up the C4L ddt but once again the referee halts him in his tracks. Havoc pushes Ligero to the outside before complaining to the referee of a shoulder injury. The referee inspects Havoc's shoulder as The Pledge strangles the champion with the flag of his home nation.

As soon as Ligero returns to the ring, Havoc pushes him straight back out as Havoc complains again of a shoulder injury. Again, the referee begins to examine Havoc's arm whilst The Pledge strangles the Speed King champion, El Ligero. This time, though, the ref turns around and witnesses The Pledge's misdemeanours and sends him to the back. Havoc's best protestations don't convince the referee to allow The Pledge to remain ringside. El Ligero plants Havoc with a ddt for a close fall-. El Ligero goes to the top rope but Havoc follows him up there as the two exchange blows up high- Ligero sends Havoc crashing to the mat before delivering a frogsplash but out comes Kay Lee Ray to distract the referee.

Havoc, after returning to his feet, attempts the Acid Rainmaker- Ligero reverses in to the crippler crossface whilst Kay Lee Ray causes the distraction that causes the referee to miss Jimmy Havoc tapping. Another distraction from Kay Lee Ray causes the referee to miss the roll up attempt by El Ligero- Havoc's shoulders were down for considerably longer than 3 but Kay Lee Ray demonstrates her worth once again.

As Havoc complains about his shoulder again, Kay Lee Ray uses El Ligero's title as a weapon against connecting with a shot to the face. Jimmy Havoc drags Ligero to his feet to finally connect with the Acid Rainmaker but the champion kicks out at 2! Havoc, furious, rags Ligero to his feet again to deliver a second- this time the champion kicks out at 1! After giving Havoc the middle finger, Havoc beats Ligero down into the corner to deliver a viscous curb stomp on the turn buckle...1... Ligero kicks out to the disbelief of Havoc, who encourages the champion to give up. Havoc, for the third time, rags up El Ligero to deliver another Acid Rainmaker to pick up the victory and be crowned the new Southside Speed King Champion.

After the match, Havoc finds a ladder from underneath the ring before tossing it in the ring. Nixon Newell comes to make the save and delivers a low blow to Havoc before sending him into the ladder with a german suplex. Nixon Newell stated that it is not over between them and challenged Havoc and Kay Lee Ray to a ladder match in which both the Speed King Championship and the Women's Championship will be on the line.

Later in the night, the match was confirmed. Jimmy Havoc and Kay Lee Ray will defend both the Speed King and the Women's Championship at the 5th Anniversary show on October 24th against El Ligero and Nixon Newell.

Winner: Jimmy Havoc

Chris Hero vs Tommy End

After meeting twice in the past couple of months, Tommy End faces Chris Hero, both tied at one victory a piece, in the rubber match of the series. Twice before these men have met and twice before these two men have delivered two of the most hard hitting matches you will ever likely see. Tonight, Hero and the Anti Hero meet for a third time in an international dream match that did not disappoint and delivered in every way imaginable.

As the match begins, Hero and the Anti Hero jockey for position, exchanging submission holds before Hero attempts to dislodge Tommy End, who stands precariously positioned on the ring apron. Hero delivers a huge boot, followed by an even bigger one but End wont shift. Hero takes a run up but still can't dislodge End. Hero goes to the outside and pulls End's legs from underneath him sending his face crashing down on the ring apron. Hero rolls End back in the ring and delivers a running senton- End kicks out at 2. Hero attempts to begin working over the arm of Tommy End- End powers out as Hero and End trade ferocious shots in the centre of the ring, each one greeted by an ooh and a grimace from the crowd. Hero with the elbows, End with the kicks. Hero delivers a devastating elbow turning End's legs into jelly. Hero lifts End- looking for a piledriver- but End rolls through only to walk into a savage spinning forearms smash that sends him straight to the mat.

Hero, after dragging End to his feet, takes the opportunity to talk a little trash to Tommy End, asking the Dutch man how it feels to barely be able to stand up before End shuts him up with a monstrous roundhouse kick as both men fall to the mat.

Somehow, End manages to throw an arm over Hero as the referee begins the count to three...1....2... Hero grabs the ref's hand to stop him making the three count! Once more, Hero and End exchange fierce shots- End hits an ace crusher but Hero gets straight to his feet and roars in the face of Tommy End. Stunned by Hero's resilience, End is in disbelief as Hero lands the Hero's Welcome- only two.

End manages to get to his feet again and Chris Hero must be wondering what it will take to pin Tommy End again. End delivers a series of stiff kicks to ground Hero before hitting the Crescent Moon Double Stomp from the top rope followed by a shining wizard....1....2... only two again! Tommy End towers over Hero who desperately clutches at the ropes to help him up to his feet. Hero and End trade some more hellacious shots  in the centre- Hero hits a huge spinning elbow sending End to the mat. Hero tucks End's head between his legs, slowly using what little remaining strength he has to deliver a piledriver. That must be it...1...2... another kick out by End!

Hero removes the protection to expose his elbow. Hero looks for that piledriver but End rolls through but keeping hold of Hero's waist to deliver a thunderous german suplex. End, perched on the top rope, looks for the Crescent Moon Double Stomp- Hero moves out of the way just in time. For the final time, End and Hero trade shots in the centre of the ring- End with kicks, Hero with elbows. Hero lifts End looking for the piedriver again but End somehow rolls through whilst driving Hero into the mat to roll Hero up for the three count. Every single person in Rushcliffe Leisure Centre stood to their feet to applaud the piece of history just witnessed. Hero interrupts the chants of "that was awesome" to state how proud he is to have been a part of this match and how proud he is of what Tommy End has become before leaving the with the parting shot that if the two meet during PWG Battle of Los Angles, he is going to kick End's ass.

Words can not do justice to how good this match was. Just buy the DVD. The price is worth it for this match alone.

Winner: Tommy End

Spud vs Stixx vs Joseph Connors

For the Southside Wrestling Heavyweight Championship

Two former champions meet the current Southside Wrestling Heavyweight Championship, Spud, in Spud's first title defence as Southside Heavyweight Championship. As the bell rings, Stixx immediately goes after the man Spud defeated for the Southside Heavyweight Champion, Joseph Connors, delivering chop after chop to the former champion's chest. Meanwhile, Spud watches before attempts to get involved but Stixx just pushes the much smaller man aside sending him to the outside. Stixx delivers a huge spine buster to Connors for a close fall before The Heavyweight House of Pain attempts to take Spud down from the apron but only succeeds in sending himself tumbling over the top rope. Spud's attempted suicide dive is unsuccessful as Stixx catches him before lifting Spud high above his head to deliver a huge scoop slam to the protective matting. Connors, ever opportunistic, attacks Stixx from behind, sending Stixx on a collision course with the steel ring post.

Connors, after rolling Spud back into the ring, continues to work over the champion's lower back by delivering two back breakers on the knee. Connors ensures Stixx doesn't return to the ring by delivering a baseball slide to ensure he stays outside the ring so he can continue the systematic dismantling of the champion. Spud manages to reverse a third back breaker attempt by Connors and successfully grounds the former champion before heading up to the top rope- Connors, back to his feet, crotches Spud before Stixx lifts both men from the ropes to deliver a huge powerslam to both men. Both men kick out of the attempted pinfall by Stixx, who perches on the top rope waiting for both men to return to their feet-when they do, Stixx crashes into both men with flying elbows. Again, Stixx covers both men for a two count again. Stixx, visibly angered by both men's refusal to quit, drags Connors to the outside to punish the former champion ringside.

Spud hits a suicide dive to take out both men before re entering the ring to take off his bow tie but walks into another scoop slam by Stixx. Connors, blindsiding Stixx, delivers All She Wrote as Stixx rolls to the outside. Connors, firmly with the advantage at this late stage, attempts to lift Spud for a piledriver but Spud slips through before delivering a flurry of offence to Connors followed by the Sliced Bread to pick up the victory and retain his Southside Heavyweight Championship.

Winner: Spud

The Hunter Brothers vs reDragon vs The London Riots

For the Southside Tag Team Championships

For almost three years now, reDRagon have played a major role in the tag team wrestling renaissance by having great matches all over the world. Tonight, reDRagon face arguably the best tag team in the UK today, The Hunter Brothers. Just as the scheduled match was about to begin, The London Riots arrive to suggest that they are added to the match as they, rightfully, believe they are one of, if not the, best tag team in the UK today. Unfortunately, reDRagon decide that if that is the case, they will return later and fight the winners before disappearing backstage. Jim Hunter and James Davies head backstage to find the Americans before successfully returning with both Kyle O Reilly and Bobby Fish, tossing both men back in the ring. The Hunter Brothers and The London Riots take turns delivering shots to reDragon who are surrounded in the ring. After soaking up multiple shots, O Reilly and Fish salute each other before both men drop to the floor at the same time and roll outside.

The Hunter Brothers and The London Riots now focus their attention to each other as they begin trading blows in the centre of the ring before The Hunter Brothers are pulled out of the ring by reDRagon. The London Riots take down both members of reDRagon with two identically timed Lou Thesz press' before they begin to work over the arm of Bobby Fish. Rob Lynch hits a running senton for a close fall as The Hunter Brothers deliver two beautiful hurricanrana's from the top rope to take out both members of The London Riots. Kyle O Reilly, now back in the ring, begins weakening the arm of the Lee Hunter after a couple of jumping knees as reDRagon begin to assert their dominance.

A series of quick tags allows reDRagon to remain in control before Chasing the Dragon is reversed by Lee Hunter who desperately reaches towards the corner of his brother and partner. Jim is taken care of by O Reilly as Lee Hunter is left with no option but to tag in Rob Lynch of The London Riots.

The fresher team begin to hit some of their signature tag team offence on O Reilly, delivering a huge assisted powerbomb...1...2... Jim Hunter breaks up the count before sending both members of reDRagon to the outside. The Hunter Brothers hit some of their double team offence hitting a beautiful combination of a suplex and facebuster. Jim Hunter hits another beautiful hurricanrana, taking out James Davies of The London Riots before going up top to deliver a frog splash to Davies....1...2... reDragon break up the pin attempt this time as the referee loses complete control of the match as all men enter the ring before the brawl heads outside except Jim Hunter, who delivers a moonsault dive to the outside taking out everyone! The Hunter Brothers are the first to their feet, returning to the ring closely followed by The London Riots. The two teams trade blows before The London Riots send Jim Hunter to the outside to join both members of reDRagon on the floor. The London Riots deliver a second combination powerbomb to Lee Hunter to pick up the victory and retain the Southside Tag Team Titles.

Winner: The London Riots

Joel Allen vs Martin Kirby Street Fight

The story of the referee, Joel Allen, and Martin Kirby stretches back a year ago. At Menace II Society IV, Allen helped Kay Lee Ray defeat Kirby for the Speed King title. This year, at the annual Speed King tournament, tensions grew further between these two men as Kirby attempted to cheat to defeat Will Ospreay in a match. Allen spotted this and didn't allow the pinfall. Instead, Ospreay defeated Kirby sending him crashing out of the tournament. A brutal brawl ensued between the two that spilled around the hall before the match was made for Menace II Society V with one condition: the match would be a street fight.

Martin Kirby is the first to arrive and is greeted with the loudest boos of the day before Joel Allen arrives to one of the loudest cheers of the night. As the ring announcer informs the audience of the match stipulation, Kirby delivers a low blow to him to shut him up. The referee attempts to talk to Kirby but he is greeted with the same fate as the ring announcer. Joel immediately lands some blows on Kirby to little effect as Kirby sends Joel to the outside before tossing him in to the ring post. Kirby, after soaking in the boos, searches under the ring and pulls out a piece of plywood to start hitting Joel Allen with. Again, Kirby searches under the ring and this time pulls out a steel chair which he proceeds to position in between the ropes in the corner.

Chants of "Joeley" echo around the hall as the fight heads outside- Kirby returns with a large, green, metal bin  before attempting to irish whip Joel into it. To the delight of the fans, Joel reverses tossing Kirby head first into the side of the bin instead! Joel rams the bin into Kirby sending him stumbling. Joel Allen finds a smaller bin this time to strike Kirby with before Kirby tosses Joel Allen into the crowd. While Joel recovers, Kirby sets up six chairs and places the plywood over it to form a makeshift table. Distracted by his temporary D.I.Y, Kirby doesn't see Joel drive a steel chair into his back. Joel rolls Kirby back into the ring before sending him head first into the steel chair Kirby positioned in the ring earlier.

Joel Allen, somehow, has managed to find himself in control of the match before Joseph Connors comes down to the ring, blindsiding Allen with a cheap shot from behind. As Martin Kirby regathers his senses, Joseph Connors offers Kirby a Righteous Army t shirt before Kirby accepts. Joel, after rolling to the outside, ducks under a kick from Kirby which accidentally hits Joseph Connors in the face. Kirby swings wildly but only succeeds in connecting with the ring post. Joel, with the numbers now even, returns to the ring before Martin Kirby dashes towards Allen but is sent over the top rope only to have his fall broken by the table.

Here comes another member of The Righteous Army. This time it is The Pledge that comes to the aid of Martin Kirby. But before The Pledge can do any damage, The Hunter Brothers come rushing out to make the save, delivering a double superkick to The Pledge. Jimmy Havoc comes tearing through the crowd before delivering a double Acid Rainmaker to both The Hunter Brothers. Here comes Stixx-delivering a huge spear to Havoc almost breaking him in half! Joseph Connors, regaining his sense, blasts Stixx with a steel chair. The Righteous Army's latest recruit, Martin Kirby, joins Connors in the ring after regaining control of the match turn their attention to Joel Allen, who has managed to stumble to his feet with the assistance of the ropes. Connors swings wildly with the chair, Joel ducks out the way as the chair comes crashing down on the head of Martin Kirby. In shock, Joseph Connors fails to notice Stixx lining up the spear in the corner as Stixx connects. Joel goes for the pin but there is no ref! Out comes another referee but Kay Lee Ray takes care of him with a low blow to assist The Righteous Army.;

Kay Lee Ray tosses a handful of dust in the face of Joel Allen as a huge brawl ensues around the ring between members of The Righteous Army and the Southside roster. Kay Lee Ray takes advantage of the situation, entering the ring to cause further suffering and embarrassment to Joel Allen. To the relief of the crowd, out comes El Ligero! Kay Lee Ray, never one to back down from a fight, squares up to El Ligero as Martin Kirby stands behind Ligero, taps him on the shoulder to cause a distraction whilst Kay Lee Ray grabs a handful of dust in preparation to toss in the face of Ligero- Ligero ducks as Kirby eats a mouthful of dust before El Ligero delivers a C4L ddt then sends Kay Lee Ray on her way. Out limps the referee Kirby delivered the low blow to earlier to make the count...1...2... Kirby kicks out! Martin Kirby spits on the ref after the two count to the disgust of everyone in the building. Kirby walks into a right of Joel Allen before the referee picks up Martin Kirby on his shoulder- Joel Allen heads up top to deliver a Doomsday Device! Joel, back to his feet, delivers a devastating Stunner that sends Kirby reeling....1....2...3.....

As the bell rings, the crowd erupts in delight. Joel Allen has finally exacted his revenge on Martin Kirby and the audience, who remained on their feet for the majority of the match, are ecstatic. What a match. Joel Allen soaks in the well deserved applause as he leaves a hero in the eyes of these fans.

Winner: Joel Allen
